From London Fashion Week 2020 to Pancake Day, we are covering all bases this week and are letting you know what's going on around town this February.

London Fashion Week 2020

Along with some other momentous dates in February; Valentine’s Day and Pancake Day, London Fashion Week 2020 is also an important occasion to add into the mix. From Friday 14th – Tuesday 18th February, the capital was captivated by talent and creations from some of the most esteemed and innovative designers from around the globe!

But LDF isn’t solely about catwalks and models; different exhibitions and pop-ups occured as well, making it all the more inclusive and an occasion for the whole city to enjoy!

This year, hosted at the Lobby Bar at London Edition Hotel in Fitzrovia, celebrated fashion illustrator, Jessica Bird, produced some speedy masterpieces with 15-minute fashion portraits of the passing by public, as well as hotel guests!

Something that is big on everyone’s lips this year is sustainability; it’s NO to fast fashion and YES to welcoming slow fashion and pre-loved items into our wardrobes, with a resurgence of vintage clothing and as well as swapping and sharing with others. To commemorate this, rental fashion companies have opened pop-ups to coincide with LFW, including the popular rental service, Hurr. This year marks Hurr Collective’s first pop-up in Selfridges where avid fashionistas will be able to peruse the rails and rent some pieces from coveted brands, from RIXO to Mara Hoffman. Don’t worry, just because London Fashion Week is over, this pop-up is sticking around for a further six months!

Sustainable jewellery brand, Lark and Berry, also got involved this London Fashion Week by opening up their very own pop-up in ME Hotel on the Strand for one day only – if you needed an excuse to take a walk on the wild side and get that piercing you always thought about, this was the opportunity to get it.

The Best Flippin' Day of the Year

One of the most underrated annual celebrations in my opinion: Shrove Tuesday. What’s not to love? It’s a day when you can have pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the opportunity to carry on the next day if you have leftovers (which, let’s be honest, isn’t likely). There are so many combinations as well, you can mix sweet with savoury without any judgmental looks and can even do a race in the middle of the street without any explanation if you feel like it, because it’s Pancake Day!

Here’s a few top places in London to get your fill of some sweet, fluffy and syrupy goodness on 25th February:

  • Where the Pancakes are in London Bridge – Don’t ask any questions, just do it. Go there.
  • Granger & Co in Clerkenwell – Two Words: Ricotta Hotcakes.
  • My Old Dutch in Holborn – Labelled as ‘the pancakes Mecca’ for a reason. You can have whatever flavour combination you fancy, from Chille con Carne to classic Maple and Bacon.

There you have it, the best pancake places and hotcake hotspots in the capital.

After Noah on Upper Street

Eccentric, eclectic and extensive are just a few adjectives we could use to describe this treasure trove hidden on Islington’s Upper Street. An emporium of vintage delights and restored furniture that have been expertly curated by this family-run business for almost three decades.

As many more Christmases and Birthdays pass, coming up with bright, shiny and new gift ideas can prove rather challenging. But, everything will change when you visit After Noah because you will be faced with bountiful trinkets, from traditional homeware to antique toys that will bring back fond memories from your childhood.

What’s great about After Noah is that it was around long before vintage and pre-loved items were on the ‘it list’ and now that this way of dressing and decorating is trendy again, they are real experts in the field and haven’t followed the pack in terms of the items they sell. If you are after some real traditional gems that you will treasure forever, then this is the place to go.
