Let's have a catch up so you can find out the latest from LN! So, what's been going on? We are excited to feature in the June issue of GQ Magazine, where our Head of Interior Design, Trilbey Gordon, talks about the best ways to style with velvet around the home. We also discuss the Roundhouse Gala that took place in March and what one of our favourite up-and-coming artists, Epoh Beech, is up to.

Five Ways with Velvet

Our Head of Interior Design, Trilbey Gordon, knows her stuff, so she had a chat with GQ to tell them all about her top ways to style velvet at home, having been inspired by some recent visits to some of this year’s best interior design fairs.

Maison et Objet has played a huge part into igniting Trilbey’s love with velvet – even more so than before! The combination of fringing and velvet was something that has been a standout blend this year, as well as beautiful, emerald green accessories.
You can really think outside of the box when it comes to using this plush material when designing your space at home, you don’t have to conform to the typical rules when it comes to using it and Trilbey’s pick of a graphic velvet screen by Chiara Provasi is an interior trend that we think is a winner.

LN at Roundhouse Gala

A few months ago marked a momentous occasion at Roundhouse and LN were privileged to be a part of it! Every two years at Roundhouse, the highly-anticipated Gala takes place and this March members of the LN team were once again honoured to get an invite.

Don’t get us wrong, the canapés, champagne and three course dinner, along with some stellar entertainment made the evening an unforgettable one, but the meaning and cause behind this event is what really makes it worthwhile. The vision for this Roundhouse Gala is to support as many as 10,000 young people a year by 2023 achieve their goals and reach their fullest creative potential. Each and every pound raised by events such as this one bring Roundhouse one step closer to achieving this goal.

We can’t forget the fantastic auction that was held as well, as what is a Gala without an auction?! With some incredible prizes that were up for grabs, including a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Miami and pieces of priceless pieces of art by some famous names, like Sir Peter Blake and Sir Anthony Gormley.

Watch the video of this fantastic evening here – we definitely will so we can relive it all over again!

The Masque of Blackness Wins Award

Ever since Epoh Beech’s preview of The Masque of Blackness in our art space in Whitechapel, Gallery 46, last year, she has embarked on an exciting journey and is achieving great things. As well as featuring in Gallery 46 last year, Londonewcastle was also proud to sponsor a large outdoor projection of her short film at The National Theatre in September, which most certainly created some buzz around the London art scene and something that we were extremely honoured to be a part of – she then went on to showcasing this piece of work at the 2018 Totally Thames Festival, so it was safe to say that she had a whirlwind of a year.

So, what’s Epoh up to now? Well, where do we even start?! After keeping in touch, we can confirm that she is doing extremely well for herself indeed, and rightly so! The Masque of Blackness has just won Best Animated Short Film at the International Animation Festival earlier this month in Sofia, Bulgaria as well as being selected for the Panorama Programme at the Melbourne International Animation Film Festival in July. It doesn’t stop there, as the short film has also been chosen as an official semi-finalist for the London International Motion Picture Awards in August.

This past week has also seen The Masque of Blackness projected at the German Regional Arts Festival ‘Nachte de Kultour’ - a screening that was inspired by the one aforementioned at The National Theatre last year. We couldn’t be more excited for Epoh’s success and can’t wait to see what the future hold for her still.
