The Catlin Art Prize 2014, now in its eighth year, is an annual exhibition featuring the most exciting art graduates in the UK one year on from their degree shows. Finalists are selected from The Catlin Guide 2014 | New Artists in the UK, a nationwide survey of recent art school graduates, now widely recognised as the essential reference for collectors of emerging artists.
This year’s exhibition, hosted once again at Londonewcastle Project Space, showcases brand new work by seven recent graduates, each chosen for their potential to make a significant impact in the art world over the next decade and beyond. The 2014 Catlin Art Prize finalists are: Mr. & Mrs. Philip Cath (Goldsmiths), Sarah Fortais (Central Saint Martins), Virgile Ittah (Royal College of Art), Lara Morrell (Central Saint Martins), Neil Raitt (Royal College of Art), Dennis J. Reinmüller (Edinburgh College of Art) and Jakob Rowlinson (The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art).
The prize is unique in offering a framework for artists to develop a new body of work during the first year out of art school. Each artist receives a bursary to support their progress.
A panel of judges will award one artist with a prize of £5,000 at a private ceremony on 14th May. Additionally, the general public will have the opportunity to take part in the Visitor Vote and pick their favourite artist in the exhibition. Votes can be cast artcatlin.com and a ballot box at the venue. The winner of the Visitor Vote will be awarded £2,000.
