After careful restoration, Balfron Tower has a new lease of life to take it into its second half-century. Designed in 1967 by legendary architect Ernö Goldfinger, the Grade II* listed building was lauded as one of the era’s most innovative examples of residential design.
Located in Poplar, a thriving part of London’s East End, Balfron Tower is surrounded by great transport links, a cultural community and new amenities from neighbouring redevelopment projects including Chrisp Street Market, Aberfeldy Village, Blackwall Reach and Republic.
The building boasts nine bold and individually designed communal rooms for residents, with 24-hour concierge. Handled by two London-based studios, led by Studio Egret West with Ab Rogers Design working on interiors, the 146 apartments have been sensitively reconfigured, with a limited collection of six 'heritage' apartments - all of which preserve the layouts drawn up by Goldfinger's office back in the 1960s.
