What's in a name? London and Newcastle.
The company name londonewcastle is the amalgamation of the 3 directors' heritage and also the locations of their preferred football teams - London and Newcastle. Whilst both David Barnett and Robert Soning hail from London, Newcastle is where Simon Berg originates from. The words London Newcastle seemed to roll off the tongue much easier when pronounced together, hence londonewcastle.
Londonewcastle History: londonewcastle was formed in 1995, and grew at a steadily increasing rate until 2003, developing over 40 residential and mixed-use schemes. Since then, several funding opportunities have arisen, formalised by the advent of the Joint Ventures with Lehman Brothers (Harley Property Ventures) and Rugby Estates (Iconic), a specialised londonewcastle property fund and long term working arrangements with United House and Oakmayne Properties. As a result of these deals and londonewcastle's burgeoning reputation, the scale and values of londonewcastle's developments have significantly increased. Presently, the gross development value of our combined Greater London projects is now in excess of £400 million, all of which are due to be completed within three years. In recognition of our new status, londonewcastle were recently nominated for 'Up and Coming Property Company of the Year 2006' by Property Week magazine.
Furthermore, in a major corporate move in June 2006, Bank of Scotland and Chelsfield Partners LLP jointly purchased 28% of London & Newcastle (Holdings) Plc to form a new company known as London & Newcastle Capital (LNC). As a result of this, LNC now has considerable funds available for prominent mixed use developments in Greater London and we are continuously and assertively searching for sites to add to our growing portfolio.
How londonewcastle work: Many of the projects forged are the result of spotting opportunities that others miss. Some schemes are in gritty areas on the fringes of established urban locations, where section 106 agreements and social provisions are regular necessities in the realisation of projects, londonewcastle's ability to counter these issues effectively has become a crucial factor in the creation of newly regenerated and exciting living environments. This ethos has been, and continues to be, illustrated by the developments and the locations that londonewcastle characteristically targets.
