Gallery 46 in Whitechapel is our new sister gallery to be used as Londonewcastle Project Space. →East End Promise
The show charts the ‘cultural migrants’, who came from all over the UK, from overseas and a spectrum of economic and social backgrounds, moved into derelict spaces, and filled the vacuum left by the previous migrants. What they (we) were all here for, was to make use of the cheap rents, to work and create a culture based on ideas. Unlike previous youth and cultural movements, mainly based on consumerism, (what you wear, what music, etc) this a loose community based around ideas, process and their attempted execution.
