An idea from Actress Joanna Lumley that was designed by Thomas Heatherwick, proposes a 367 meter long Garden Bridge for pedestrians over the River Thames. The bridge was granted planning permission on the grounds that it would not detract from current views. Situated between Waterloo and Blackfriars bridge, this landmark will be creating new perspectives of the city to the public. Pedestrians can look West towards the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye and East towards St. Paul’s and the City. However, constructing this bridge seems harder than anyone would have imagined. With a bit of political drama here and there, the bridge’s future is uncertain.
