Issue 18

This week we get a taste for worldly flavours and see some modern art at its finest.

A Flavour of the World

I came across Lenny and her husband Henk whilst on holiday in Costa Rica. They had been travelling up and down the country for several days and had visited numerous other exotic destinations over the course of their lifetime. Lennys husband runs an indoor skydiving company and Lenny is a professional photographer and creative.

Her latest creation is a unique cookbook inspired by diverse people she has met during her travels. The book asked 51 people of different nationalities to write down the recipes for their favourite national dish and adorn the ingredient on their heads that Lenny then photographed for the book. The result of these photos is an eclectic array of unique photos. See if you can spot the nationalities below.

Performing for the Camera

Another great show at the Tate Modern opens this coming Thursday. Performing for the Camera features many of the women photographers who have pushed the boundaries of modern art. Francesca Woodman and Yayoi Kusama star. As does the superb Cindy Sherman.

Neverended: A 10 Year Retrospect

On entering the space the mood is instantly urban with an amazing array of pieces.

Feature pieces such as Wings by Jim Vision seemed to capture may a visitor, some taking prime position in the centre to take a photo. Every wall is adorned with a fragment of street art history making this a must see event for anyone into the scene.

Complete with a dj spinning some old skool tunes this makes for a great evening for reminiscing and taking a trip through the evolution of urban art.

The event has now been extended until Saturday 5th March.
